Who can sign my logbook?

One of the most common questions I get asked as an instructor and an Assessor is:

Who can sign an IRATA logbook?

Well it’s a fairly simple question to answer so here goes. In an ideal world we would all be working for an IRATA (or SPRAT) member company and as such would always have a Level 3 right there on the job with us. This is who we would take our correctly filled out logbook so that they can verify and sign off on those details and hours.

However, we do have times when technicians are working for independent companies and this is where the issues seem to arise.

You can have a rope access supervisor from other systems e.g. Soft, SPRAT, FISAT, IRAANZ, etc. or the rope access manager, project manager, or company director you are employed by. Basically, the person to who you report and who has firsthand knowledge of the work you have been doing on ropes and the hours spent doing it. They will need to provide their name, position within the company, email address, and phone number.

If you have any worries or questions, feel free to send a copy of your logbook to training@altiusts.com and one of our training staff will review it for you. You can also find more details on this on the IRATA website by clicking here.
